Batman Pulp Alley

Diamond Heist in Gotham City

The scene outside the First National Bank
on a seemingly peaceful day in Gotham City
It is a  seemingly peaceful day in Gotham City and all looks well outside the First National Bank.  But appearances can be deceiving, as the bank has recently received a valuable collection of diamonds for safekeeping from the Maharishi of Bengal which has whetted the appetites of some of Gotham Cities most notorious criminals. As part of Warden Creighton's criminal rehabilitation program the bank has hired the Black Cat to safeguard the diamond safe.

Converting Heroclix Figures for Pulp Alley

I have been working on remounting some Heroclix figures on clear bases for Pulp Alley.  For some reason the Heroclix Penguin was all in white, which just seems wrong. So I repainted him.

INEPTT skirmish game

Some of the pictures from the first InEPTT (International Extraterrestrial Paranormal Tactical Teams) (2014) game I ran in August 2017 using the intro scenario involving the Grays.  It features 16 soldiers (1970s era British) and 4 policemen versus 8 Gray aliens.  The objectives were the 10 civilians.  Unfortunately we only got to turn 3 as there was a lot of paper work to be done to get the character sheets done and we were learning the rules.  When we called the game after 3.5 hours the Greys had captured 3 of the 5 civilians they needed to win and lost one of their own in exchange for 3 INEPTT soldiers being vaporized.

Doctor Who Christmas Game 2017

Doctor Who Christmas Game 2017

Introduction

We played this Doctor Who game using the now sadly out of print Doctor Who the Miniature Game (DWMG) rules.  It was loosely inspired by the Doctor Who Episode "The Tenth Planet" (broadcast in 1966) and the film "Ice Station Zebra" (1968) plus the DWMG scenario Snow Cap Base.   This game was actually run on January 14, 2018 as inclement winter weather prevented it being run closer to Christmas.

Background:

This adventure is set in December 1968 at Snow Cap Base, an Underground radar tracking and ICBM nuclear missile launching facility at the South Pole established by the United Nations (UN) to defend earth against incoming asteroids. The base is under the Command of General Cutler who has lowered the bases tight security to host a party with special guests that include Santa Clause and his lovely Assistant Tina to celebrate Christmas.  However the new Christmas tree they have brought in turns out to be a dangerous android under the control of the Master who has formed an alliance with the Cybermen and Ice Warriors against earth.  With the help of the deadly Christmas tree the bases' defences are breached and the Master soon gains control of the base and takes General Cutler, Tina and Santa Clause (Father Christmas) hostage.  He now demands the earth surrender to him or he will start launching the deadly nuclear missiles with heir hydrogen bomb warheads at the world’s major capitals.  Any attempt to retake the base will result in the hostages being executed.  Nonetheless the UN has formed a strike force made up of troops from UNIT, the United States and the Soviet Union. The First Doctor along with his companions Ben and Polly arrive in the TARDIS just in time to help the UN forces

Objectives:

The objective of the heroic side it is Rescue Santa, Tina and General Cutler who are being held inside the bunker and prevent the launch of any of the deadly missiles. The Master's forces needs to retain the hostages or failing that launch one of the missiles in hopes of provoking World War III.

The Set up

The game board measured 6' x 4' two thirds of the board represents the arctic environment and the other third on the right represents the underground base. There are three entrances to the base: the main entrance at the bunker in the centre, the service entrance in the quonset hut in the foreground and the escape exit / entrance hatch in the background pictured below.

Pulp Alley Scenario Transylvanian Camp Ground

Pulp Alley Scenario for 2-5 players: Transylvanian Camp Ground

Scenario Background:

It is Halloween, October 31, 1938, Lady Elaine, the daughter of a Lord Halifax, has been lured away from home, by a charismatic Gypsy named Lash. She has taken important documents with her as well as her valuable jewelry and gold.   Lady Elaine now finds herself in a campground in Transylvanian, an area known to be haunted, and is in danger. The forces of good, Alain Quartermain's Explorers and Roosevelt's Angels,  have been dispatched   to rescue her and return her home while the forces of evil (Vampires and Werewolves) have other intentions. Convincing Lady Elaine to leave may not be easy.  Four Leagues have set out to find Lady Elaine, plus some of her friends have set out independently including Lady Ponsonby; and Casey DeLancey as well as some sinister Halloween creatures including a Succubus and a Scarecrow.  (Scenario based on Pulp Alley: “Hidalgo Fire” in the Perilous Island Campaign).

Frostgrave: the Well and the Mausoleum Scenarios

I got together with a friend who had recently returned to the area for a couple of games of Frostgrave on January 15, 2017.  He brought an Elementalist warband made up of mainly Warhammer  Empire troops and I used a Dark Elf warband made up of Warhammer and RAFM figures. For the first game we used the Well scenario and the second the Mausoleum scenario.

The Warbands

Frostgrave: Home for Christmas with the Giant Worm

This was the first Frostgrave game I have run and it took place over the Christmas holidays in a wintery village.  We used the "Worm" scenario.  Three groups of brave adventurers: Chronomancers warband, Dark Elf warband  and a Thaumaturge warband went forward to seeks treasure and possibly glory if they chose to fight a giant worm. Then there was Father Christmas who did not do much.

Pulp Alley Doctor Who game: Day of the Daleks.

This is my effort at converting a Doctor Who the Miniatures Game (DWMG) scenario "Day of the Daleks" to a Pulp Alley game.  I had run the DWMG game at home and at convention and it was very successful and I wanted to see how Pulp Alley would handle the game.
