Belated 2023 Halloween Post

Sadly no Halloween game this year, but recently I did receive Tim Prow's The Battle For Black Mere kick-starter set of 28mm skeleton figures.

These pictures are from the Kick-starter project and not my work, I have yet to paint my figures. These are by no means all the figures available in the kick-starter, just the ones I ordered.

Halloween 2022

If I do have a Halloween themed game this year it will be a post Halloween game in mid November as other activities prevented a game this past weekend.   In the meantime here are some Work in Progress pictures of possible figures for a Fantastic Battles Halloween themed game.

Undead Catapult and Giant (updated 2022)

This is an old Undead catapult produced by Grenadier and re-released by Mirliton that I have been working on for some time and finally got the base ready in time for a game in Halloween 2019.   This catapult and the skeleton giant I was working on at the same time will be used in an upcoming SAGA Age of Magic game at my local club. These figures will work well for a variety of rule systems:

Old Hammer (WFB 3rd or 6th Edition)
Fantastic Battles
SAGA Age of Magic

I have based it on an 80mm wide by 103mm deep base and I flocked it so it will work for a desert climate (to work with my Egyptian themed Undead army) and added  little more vegetation as compared to the pictures below. I have updated this report in June 2022, see notes at the end.

SAGA AoM Halloween Game October / November 2021

Some pictures and a brief AoR from two SAGA Age of Magic game we played over 2021  Halloween and the following weekend.  It features my Undead warband (Undead Legion board) versus Ted's Iroquois Warband (Lords of the Wild board).

Classic Citadel Undead Command

Above are  some recently painted Citadel Undead Command figures including from left to right: a Liche General (later renamed a Necromancer) a Witch King (later renamed a Liche Lord) and a lance cavalry figure called "the Dead Man of Dunharrow".

SAGA Age of Magic: Undead versus Iroquois: Halloween theme game, October 2020.

Apologies for being a bit late in posting this Halloween SAGA Age of Magic (AoM) game report.   This was a second match up between these two opponents: the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Undead board) versus an Iroquois war band (Lords of the Wild board) fought on October 12, 2020 using SAGA AoM rules. I added some Halloween scenery as appropriate for October.  This was a basic encounter scenario with the objective of killing the other sides warlord.

Family of Blood Halloween 2008

Family of Blood Game - Halloween 2008

This was one of my earl Doctor Who games from October 2008 using DWMG and before the Gripping Beast figures made to represent the Family of Blood characters were available, so most of the figures are Micro Universe (MU) plastic figures, converted Wiz Kids (WK) figures, West Wind (WW) miniatures.  The Scarecrows are RAFM metal miniatures and Wiz Kids (WK) plastic figures.  The students are assumed to be in their Cadet Army uniforms and I used Foundry First World War Figures to represent them including a Vickers MG.

It is interesting to compare this to the later 2011 Family of Blood game where the buildings and figures are more purpose designed to resemble the TV episode.

Classic Story Book Witches 2016 updated in 2019

Bought these 4 classic 28mm Storybook Witches from West Wind's Vampire Wars range in October 2016.

Picture below is not my paint job, but it is sort of what I am aiming for.

Classic  Story Book Witches

These witches above were painted by Chal and are part of his collection.  You can see more about them on his blog Miniatures of Wrath

Thanks for the inspiration Chal, and the idea of using Payne's Grey (being a very dark bluish grey) as the base coat.  Read on to see how my witches turned out.
