Doctor Who- Terror at Devils Bay Test Game for Cangames 2018 (Updated)

Test Game: Terror at Devils Bay:  May 6, 2018 (Updated)

This was a test game for the Cangames Convention late May 2018, using the DWMG rules.  We wanted to see if the forces were balanced.

Some of the buildings still need painting but I wanted to test out the scenario to see what further work needed to be done, or not. I had 4 players for the game, the scenario is designed for up to 8 players. I will not provide a detailed AAR, but just let the pictures tell the story.

Sea Devils had trouble getting off the beach

We ended the game when it was apparent the Sea Devils would not get off the beach in strength sufficient enough to have a chance of winning the game.

In post game discussions it was decided some changes needed to be made to the scenario to allow the Sea Devil's a better chance to get off the beach.  Also the 40mm Bofors gun was also less effective than expected due to a poor arc of fire with too many buildings obstructing its view.  Elevating it had pros and cons including dead ground in front of the gun but still might be an improvement.

Elevated option for the Bofors, it provides better vision but this limits
the guns depression angle creating dead ground or a big blind spot
It was also decided to create separate victory points for each group of figures / player.

Disaster but with a happy ending.

Unfortunately just before Cangames on May 17th, 2018 my indoor cat Joey went missing for almost three weeks and the game preparations had to be put aside.  I had to cancel my Terror at Devils Bay game at Cangames 2018(20 May), but it will be run at Cangames 2019.   Most importantly on June 6, 2018 I was able to recover Joey.  He was back home safe and sound, a few pounds lighter, stressed and disheveled but unharmed.
