AAR Pulp Alley Halloween Game - Lord Carnarvan's Mansion

Halloween Game- Lord Carnarvan's Mansion

This was a Pulp Alley game played on November 4, 2018 inspired by the Tomb of the Serpent campaign booklet, Haunted Hall scenario.  It is set in 1930s England at the mansion of the  late Lord Carnarvan which is filed with Egyptian artifacts.  The scenario was based on the lost keys template - the leagues needed to find a minor plot point on the main floor of the mansion that was a key which would allow them access to the second floor to gain the major plot point:  the Eye of the Serpent Jewel. Various horrific creates (Servants of Apostis)  would appear during the scenario to foil the treasure seekers. The scenario was  designed for 3 to 4 people but we ended up playing with just 2 players.  The 2 leagues were a Werewolf League and an SS She Wolf League:

The setting: First floor of Mansion plus grounds

The Werewolf League below consisted of a leader, sidekick (both have the Shapeshifter ability) and two allies (wolves).

Werewolf League
The SS She Wolf League below consisted of a Leader (Ilsa), two Sidekicks (Gretchen and Dr. Binz) and two allies (wolf and Anna).

Ilsa's SS She Wolf League L-R: Wolf, Dr. Binz, Ilsa, Anna and Gretchen

Some of the cards I created for the SS She Wolf League below:

Leader and two Sidekicks

The Servants of Apostis would do their best to stop the intruders from gaining the major plot point the Eye of the Serpent jewel.

A blast from the Risen Priest

Turn 2

The SS She Wolves battle the Serpent priest in the garage while Dr. Binz attempts to find another entrance near the front of the house.

Turn 4:

At the end of the previous turn the Serpent Priest makes his health check and is back up blocking the doorway in the garage, but not before one of the SS She-wolves, Gretchen, gets past him into the hallway

Battle in the garage resumes.
Gretchen finds the first key, a mummy in the sarcophagus and gains one of two necessary successes to complete this  minor plot point and gain a key.  But a risen warrior is bearing down on her.
Gretchen partly completed the minor plot point

The Werewolf kills the Risen Warrior as a wold enters the house.

The Risen Warrior and Gretchen engage in melee and both go down.

 Turn 5:

Both the Risen Warrior and Gretchen make their health checks and the battle in the hallway resumes around the Sarcophagus.

 Turn 6:

Meanwhile the Werewolf leader in Human form is working to collect one of the keys, but one of the servants is approaching.
The battle with the Servant does not go well, rolling  1s and 2s don't help.

Cards work against the Werewolf leader

Not a good roll
Meanwhile in the hallway the Werewolf league attempt to foil Gretchen's efforts and gain the Sarcophagus  plot point /key for themselves.

The green 1 means 1 part of the challenge has been completed.

The battle between Ilsa and the Servants continue in the garage.

 Turn 7:

We decided the game must continue one more turn as there was no clear winner.   Gretchen continues to battle for the partly claimed plot point, that has 2 successes needed to be completed

Battle in the hallway for Plot Point #1.

Gretchen  takes a hit.
Meanwhile in a nearby room the Werewolf leader and his companions find the black cat plot point and succeed in completing it.

No decisive results are achieved in the battle in the hallway.

The Battle in the hallway continues a wolf and Gretchen are both down.

Doctor Binz continues to try to gain the Lady Jane Plot Point (#2) but is embroiled in a battle with a Faceless servant.

The Dr. Binz can't get the plot point thanks to the Faceless servant

Servant Casualties

Conclusion

The game ended with a minor victory for the Werewolf league who gained one minor plot point / key.
The Servants proved to be difficult opponents that slowed down both leagues preventing them getting the major plot point.
